Grjotangr Sauna
About Grjotangr Sauna
Grjotangr Sauna is a wood-fired sauna beautifully located by Gratangsfjord in Gratangen municipality. It is the result of a crowdfunded project where the local community has helped build and shape the sauna. With the use of 100-year-old reclaimed materials and decoration by a local glass artist, the sauna stands as a symbol of community and sustainability.
The sauna is built with a wood-fired stove placed centrally in the room, giving an even distribution of heat. It is designed with both functionality and aesthetics in mind, and has large windows that give panoramic views of the fjord. The interior is marked by natural materials and details that reflect local culture and craftsmanship.
Architecture
After a relaxing time in the sauna you can take a refreshing dip in Gratangsfjord, which lies right outside. The cold fjord gives a contrast to the warm sauna, and rounds out the well-being experience.
